Program Coordinator (Student Leadership Academy,  Student Charter Program and Mentor and Match Mentee Program), A2MEND

Job Title: Program Coordinator (Student Leadership Academy,  Student Charter Program and Mentor and Match Mentee Program)
Pay Rate (or Annual Salary): $80,000-$89,000
Job Location: Remote

Under the supervision of the Executive Director, the project coordinator will be responsible for the coordination of the organization’s Student Leadership Academy and Student Charters programs.  The student mentor leadership academy program is designed for community college male students of color to build meaningful relationships with A2MEND members that will assist students in reaching their long term academic and professional goals. A²MEND mentees meet with their mentor one on one, and additionally participate in group and peer mentorship activities organized in conjunction with the A2MEND Board including; leadership development retreats, social activities, and community service projects and cultural excursions abroad. Mentees who meet program requirements are also eligible to receive annual scholarships. The aim of the A²MEND student charters is to improve academic success and to develop culturally competent servant student leaders. The student charters of A²MEND provide educational, cultural, social, and intellectual programs that promote positivity and brotherhood among its members. There are currently (32 charters) in the California Community College system. The program coordinator is responsible for the Mentor & Match software platform ensuring engagement by both mentors and mentees.

Primary Duties:

  • Work with the Executive Director to lead and coordinate all mentee activities
  • Support in the organization of a yearly master calendar for the Leadership Academy  and Charter programs
  • Assist in the Leadership Academy and Charter program budget development and expansion  
  • Establish frequent and ongoing communication with Leadership Academy and Charter leads
  • Update and process A2MEND mentee and Charter applications
  • Keep updated roster and database of current and alumni mentees
  • Collaborate with A2MEND Board and Executive Director  to determine eligibility for mentee scholarship opportunities
  • Coordinate mentee travel to the annual A2MEND conference and additional mentee activities 
  • Provide regular report-outs to the A2MEND Board and Leadership Academy and Charter program board leads 
  • Create and maintain Leadership Academy and Charter program materials and information (via digitally and in print)
  • Maintain mentee and charter database to include but not limited to tracking college location, major, educational goal, current enrollment status, academic progress,transfer status, attendance in mentorship activities and other success indicators 
  • Produce monthly and quarterly reports and evaluations on program impact
  • Collaborate with the A2MEND development office to identify potential grant resources or sponsorship opportunities to support the mentorship program 
  • Occasionally present at conferences on behalf of A2MEND
  • Provide technical training to Charter campuses and engage campus advisors and leadership
  • Onboard new Charters and conduct annual training for new charter programs 
  • Refer and recommend services including but not limited to mental health, housing and food for mentees 
  • Work collaboratively with other A2MEND program staff
  • Additional duties as assigned

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
  • Commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion, and accessibility 
  • Understanding of the experiences of Black/African American males 
  • Minimum of one year experience in educational or non-profits sectors
  • Knowledge of the community college system
  • Understanding of research and best practices associated with Black/African American manhood development  
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to serve as a role model and mentor with compassion and empathy
  • Exceptional listening and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Experience using a variety of social media platforms and communication tools

The Chabot-Las Positas Community College District is seeking a Mentor Program Assistant Director for Chabot College in Hayward, California.

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
Under general direction of the Mentor Program Director, participate in the management and administration of the California Early Childhood Mentor Program; assist in the development of policies and procedures, resource materials, program publicity, and program expansion materials; provide administrative and technical support to statewide program participants; coordinate, plan, and implement program trainings; collect and analyze data and prepare a variety of reports; approve and monitor program expenditures; and assume management responsibility in the absence of the Director.

This is a grant/categorically funded position. Continuation of this position is contingent upon available funding on a year to year basis.

Representative Duties
