Support Our Capital Campaign:

A²MEND Racial Trauma Healing and Wellness Center

Over the past decade, A²MEND executive Board Members have accompanied student mentees to various African countries – from Egypt to Ghana  – as part of our Africa Study Abroad Program. The annual excursion enables students to explore the home of their ancestors, fortifying them with a stronger sense of cultural identity. Through this program, our board members have discovered what a transformational experience these trips have been for our student mentees. We have seen first-hand how traveling to African countries has helped give them a greater sense of identity, a vital quality that is inextricably connected to their self-efficacy and wellbeing.

With this impact in mind, A²MEND’s leadership returned to Africa in December 2021 as part of a land acquisition effort. We purchased a parcel of land in Ghana for the future construction of the A²MEND Racial Trauma Healing and Wellness Center. The purpose of the Center is to provide a healing space where Black students and educators can be themselves and affirm who they are in a safe environment. The Center also aims to give students and educators a stronger connection to their historical roots and cultural homeland.

We at A²MEND need your support to transform this vision into a reality. With your support, we can soon begin plans for the groundbreaking of the Center’s construction and its subsequent opening. Please join us in this endeavor by adding your name and contact information to the Capital Campaign for A²MEND’s Racial Trauma Healing and Wellness Center. We will remain in touch about how you and your network can help us materialize this dream on behalf of the futures of our young Black men.
