Overview

The African American Male Education Network and Development (A²MEND) organization is a non-profit organization, comprised of African American male educators who utilize scholarly and professional expertise to foster institutional change within the community college system to increase success of African American male students.  Since 2006, the A²MEND organization has been the premiere organization that has focused solely on addressing the lack of educational success for African American male students in California Community Colleges. In March 2020, A²MEND hosted its 13th annual African American Male Summit conference in Los Angeles, in which close to 1,000 students, faculty, staff and administrators attended with the purpose of fostering African American male success within community colleges.
