President-Elect

Dr. Murrell Green brings a dynamic perspective to the A2MEND Board as a proud HBCU alumnus and lifelong San Franciscan, raised in the city’s historic Western Addition/Fillmore neighborhood. With nearly two decades of progressive leadership in higher education, Dr. Green has cultivated a broad portfolio of experiences within the California Community College system as a faculty member, department chair, dean, and trustee.
Dr. Green began his career in 2006 as Adjunct Counseling Faculty at Skyline College before joining City College of San Francisco as a Financial Aid Academic Counselor. His leadership trajectory expanded in Southern California, where he became a tenured faculty member, Department Chair of Counseling Services, and Acting Transfer Center Director at West Los Angeles College. He later returned to Northern California, and currently serves as Dean of Counseling and Wellness Services at Solano Community College, where he oversees Academic Counseling, the Accessibility Services Center, CalWORKs, Career & Transfer Center, and the Veterans Resource Center, while championing Guided Pathways, equity-based Behavioral Intervention Teams, and holistic student success initiatives.
In 2022, Dr. Green was appointed by San Francisco Mayor London Breed to serve as a Trustee of City College of San Francisco. Following his appointment, he was successfully elected to the Board of Trustees with an overwhelming 117,737 votes, underscoring the community’s confidence in his leadership.
Beyond his governance and administrative roles, Dr. Green actively contributes to systemwide and statewide leadership. He serves on the California Community Colleges Black & African American Advisory Panel and is President-Elect of the A2MEND Board of Directors. He is also a graduate of several prestigious leadership programs, including the African American Board Leadership Institute, the Carolyn Grubbs Williams Leadership Development Institute, and the Leadership Institute for Tomorrow.
A proud product of Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Dr. Green earned his B.A. in Psychology from Clark Atlanta University, followed by an M.S. in College and School Counseling from San Francisco State University, and a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership and Management from Drexel University, where his research examined the experiences of African American male alumni of HBCUs.
Dr. Green resides in his hometown of San Francisco with his wife, Dr. Janelle Green (podiatrist and nutritionist), and together they are raising two children, Corinthian and Providence, while continuing their shared commitment to family, education, and community uplift.
