This session will hopefully ignite and activate participants to exercise agency to become individual and institutional change agents!
About this Event
Please join A2MEND Organization as we moderate a nationwide discussion with Dr. Tricia Rose, Tamika Mallory and Ijeoma Oluo.
This session will explore the intersection of being a Black woman in American society. Far too often Black women are subjected to the most vile forms of racism compounded with sexism. Health disparities and economic wage discrepancy scratch the surface of the marginalization of Black women who have to endure the bulk of racist policies such as mass incarceration. Experts will share lived and research base experiences across various industries to shed light on the plight of Black Woman and how we can do better as a society. Participants should walk away with an understanding and empathy of the detrimental societal impacts that black women face and tangible applications to augment change in their respective communities and environments.
The Session is Part 2 of the A2MEND Institute which will feature a 6-part webinar series (three keynote sessions, three debrief consultation sessions) that will facilitate thoughtful discourse about Black issues and the systemic underpinning and plight that impacts the nation.
Each webinar will feature and engage leading scholars and prominent voices from the Black community such as Dr. Cornel West, Dr. Joy DeGruy, Michael Eric Dyson (Sept 26th) and Dr. Tommy Curry and Dr. William A. Smith (Transitioning from Anti-Blackness to Pro-Black on November 21st) to discuss and delve deeper into topics such as economic and educational empowerment, reparations, political thoughts and groups analysis of race relations. Focused on equipping leaders with the tools and frameworks needed to address anti-black racism in California’s community colleges, A2MEND will host debrief consultation sessions. Tune in and Get Ready to Learn, Engage and Enact Systemic Change!
