In response to the murder of George Floyd and the rise of civil unrest, A²MEND found itself well positioned to lead conversations and provide professional development trainings to community college faculty, staff and administrators. In addition to the Institutional Capacity Building Workshops the organization traditionally hosted, A²MEND also started a four-part Anti-Black Racism Webinar Series featuring academic scholars, such as Dr. Ibram Kendi, Dr. Marc Lamont Hill and Tim Wise.
The goal of the webinar series is to moderate dialogue on the history and impact of anti-black racism in U.S. society, including higher education institutions. As an organization, A²MEND strives to equip educators and institutions with the knowledge and training needed to increase the success of African American male students in the community college system.
