2027 Call for Proposals

The A2MEND Effect: 20 Years of Impact

The African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND) invites administrators, researchers, staff, faculty, and non-profit/community leaders to submit workshop proposals for the 20th Annual African American Male Summit to be held March 4-5, 2027, at the Gaylord Pacific Resort & Convention Center in Chula Vista, CA.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Proposals will be evaluated based on their relevance to the conference strands, content, quality, applicability, and overall connection to issues affecting African American male students, as well as how the proposed strategies relate to the conference theme. All proposals should include clearly defined student or participant learning outcomes that identify the key knowledge, skills, or insights attendees are expected to gain as a result of participating in the session.

CONFERENCE STRANDS African American Male Students

Proposals will be centered on topics that are relevant to African American male students. Proposals should be student-focused and can either be educational or motivational in nature. Discussion-based and/or multimedia presentations are strongly encouraged. All proposals should include student learning outcomes.

Student Support Services

Proposals will analyze the significance of student support services in the overall academic success of African American male students. Presentation proposals should examine promising practices and programs that target African American males as well as facilitate discussion on how student services can better support, engage and connect African American male students throughout their educational development. Emphasis will be placed on presenters that have developed successful programs for African American males at their school sites, colleges, and/or in the community. All proposals should include participant learning outcomes.

Instructional Practices

Proposals must relate to instructional strategies and practices that affect the educational outcomes and classroom experiences of African American males. These practices can include, but is not limited to curricular redesign, innovative teaching methods, and/or student engagement approaches. Emphasis will be given to faculty members that have implemented successful instructional strategies. All proposals should include participant learning outcomes.

Administrative/Executive Approaches

Proposals must address salient issues affecting senior level executive educational administrators, board members, policy makers, and business leaders in their efforts to address the academic successful of African American males. All proposals should include Student/Participant Learning Outcomes.

Submission/Presentation Guidelines

  1. Proposal must address one of the approved strands.
  2. Proposal must include student/participant learning outcomes.
  3. Proposal must be submitted on the A2MEND Proposal Submission Form.
  4. Presentations must be limited to 1 hour and 15 minutes.
  5. Presentations will be submitted electronically.
  6. Proposals must be SUBMITTED by November 1, 2026.

Written notification on the status of your proposal will be emailed to the lead presenter by December 1, 2026. Additionally, a list of the conference workshops, presenters, and speakers will be posted on the A2MEND website.

Program Policies

All presenters and co-presenters must register for the conference and pay the associated registration fee.
